Russian newspaper fined for cryptocurrency ad.

The Russian newspaper "Unity Nizhnekamsk" was fined 50 thousand rubles for cryptocurrency ad about investing in Bitcoin, Ethereum, zcash for and mining of digital assets.

A resident of Nizhnekamsk published in the newspaper seemingly innocuous announcement: "Investing in crypto currencies. Bitcoin, Ethereum, Zcash For. Assembly and adjustment of mining-farms."

However, the staff Department of the Central Bank of Russia has considered a listing of illegal and appealed to the Federal Antimonopoly service (FAS). Having examined the application, the staff of the FAS came to the conclusion that the leadership newspaper had breached the legislation on advertising and accused "Unity Nizhnekamsk" , part 1 of article 14.3 of the administrative code.

Based on the meaning of the content of the ads, the court concluded that the publication contains advertising of financial services, the law requires you to specify the details of the person performing such service. Employees of the newspaper did not publish the name of the author of the advertisement and therefore violated the legislation and was fined 50 thousand rubles.

At the moment the official status of cryptocurrencies in Russia is still not defined, it leads to various paradoxes and contradictions. In particular, in March 2017, the court of St. Petersburg has banned the publication of cryptocurrency ads, but reversed its decision this year. A Moscow court in may 2018 admitted cryptocurrency assets in the course of the proceedings about the bankruptcy of the entrepreneur Ilya Tsarev.

In fact, cryptocurrency in Russia do not existsince not recognizedare at the state level. Therefore, the assessment of coins as property or funds devoid of logic. The situation will become clear only after the adoption of the bill, which is scheduled for autumn this year, and while we wonder in silence!
