14 Sep hackers stole bitcoin worth $60 million with a Japanese exchange Zaif, which is a subsidiary of Tech Bureau. About incident it became known only on September 18, when the representatives of the company have addressed in law enforcement bodies.
Staff Zaif said that the attackers broke into the server of the exchange and transferred Bitcoin, Monacoin and Bitcoin cash with cryptocurrency hot wallet. 67% of stolen digital assets belonged to the clients of the company. The fact of hacking the site specialists found out on September 17, after discovering a problem with the server.
Representatives of the Tech Bureau , said in an interview: "Now the police are investigating so we are unable to disclose details of the incident. Firm Fisco Group has agreed to provide financial assistance in the amount of $44.59 million, we will send the money for the compensation of the traders".
In January 2018 was hacked Japanese exchange Coincheck, then the hackers managed to take over the cryptocurrency amounting to about $500 million. To prevent such situations, the financial services Agency of Japan has strengthened control over the activities of the cryptocurrency exchanges. The Agency conducted a review of security trading platforms and revealed numerous violations. In particular, Zaif got two orders demanding improved measures to counter hacking attacks. Apparently, the exchange had ignored the instructions of the Agency and ppaid for his carelessness.
